editing and writing It was an exciting start to the new racing season with an excellent 31 car grid. Much interest centred round two young drivers entering the full championship for the first time, 17 year old William Plant (son of current champion Richard)  already an experienced racer and in his Father’s very fast 4/4 Cosworth and Tom Jones (24) an experienced historic MGB racer, driving Richard’s own class B Roadster.  Although Matthew Wurrs 4.6 class A +8 won the race, William & Tom finished 2nd & 3rd overall, both substantially lowering the Class B lap record.  As usual there were great battles up and down the field, most noteworthy was 2nd in Class R for Simon Rothon’s Class R prepared Roadster Lightweight.

make or buy decision essay RTCC wins Race 2!  Battle was rejoined only 2 weeks later, this time with the addition of Keith Ahlers in his very quick Class A +8.  With 2 races on the day, the first was held in dry but cold conditions and only Keith was able to keep the young guns behind in practice.  In race 1 Keith duly won with the powerful Class A +8 relegating Tom & William into 4th & 5th.  Tony Rivers in his RTCC Class R Roadster started from class pole and thus led all race with Orebi-Gann’s Roadster narrowly missing the class win but securing fastest lap in class.  For race 2 the heavens opened and the track was quickly awash, making conditions very tricky.  Starting from the second now, Tom Jones in the RTCC Roadster soon surged past Plant and Ahlers into the lead.  Despite determined attempts to over take him, Tom passed the chequered flag a magnificent 15 seconds ahead of Ahlers and Plant to take his first (non championship) win in Morgan Challenge, and the first win for a Roadster in the UK.
